A message from the CTC president
Although the summer this year arrived late, the tennisactivities did not slow down. Wehad 19 Adult,
3 Super Senior 65, 6 Super Senior 60 and 9 Fifty MixedCTC USTA teams this summer. Manyof these
teams participated in playoffs and a few are still in contention forplayoffs. CTC also sponsored 2very successful social tennis events.
Our Club has maintained a reserve fund from previousyearÕs revenues and the 2010 Board voted to spend some of these funds onfacility improvements that would directly benefit our Club members. Fifteenhundred dollars was budgeted for 2011. Many ideas have been proposed and discussed amongst the Board membersand with CSC personnel to determine what improvements make sense and whatimprovements are allowed. Some ofthe ideas include shade umbrellas and more benches on the UTA competitioncourts, installing clock(s) in the area of the courts, installing anInternet-accessible court-condition web cam, storage for food and an additionalice machine. Since the budget is limited, we would most likely be able toexecute on one or two ideas this year. However, before we spend any money, I would really like to have someinput from our members regarding your preferences and ideas. You can send yourcomments, preferences and ideas to me at
We are approaching the 4th quarter of the year and it istime to plan for the assembly of the 2012 CTC Board. If you are interested in serving on the CTC Board next year, contact the current Vice President, Susan Hollis, at

Our goal for 2011 was to provide 4 tennis socials to themembers of CTC. So far, wescheduled 3 (February, May and August), but were rained out of the one(February). Thanks to ourenthusiastic members, all of the events enjoyed full participation! For ourAugust Social, we used 6 courts and played doubles and mixed doubles on a mildSaturday evening. We played 4rounds of 30 minute sets (8 games/no ad) and enjoyed pizza and beveragesafterward. Players of similarlevels were paired to make the games both fun and competitive.
CTC will offer one more Social this year inDecember. The details will beavailable soon.
For 2012, CTC would like to continue the quarterlysocials. Ideas for next yearÕsevents range from holding a CTC Social early in the morning to possibilitiesfor a Social on a weekday. If you have an idea, comment or question, or if youwould like to help with one of the events, please email

The current manual entrance gate is is being retrofitted asan electric automated gate. Theexterior of the building is being painted. And, in the next few weeks, repair work will be started onthe Court 1 balcony. At that time, members will need to use the stairs by thebike area to enter the building.
