How
to play USTA tennis for a CTC team
|
|
 |
To play on
a Cupertino team, follow the steps listed below:
- Decide
the level you wish to play (i.e. 2.5, 3.0 etc.). Your current USTA
rating will help you decide. Determine your
rating, if you do not have one, by using the USTA NorCal NTRP Self
Rating Guildlines.
- Check
out the CTC Calendar
to learn about which teams are currently registering.
- Contact
the captain of the Cupertino
team you wish to play on and find out if the team needs players.
- At the
start of every season, teams have to be formed within a deadline. Use
the new
sign up process to declare your interest/intent to play at the start
of each league season. If
teams have not been formed and enough interest is generated, additional
teams can be formed to provide everyone with playing opportunities.
If the captain you contact has a full roster, send an email to womensusta@cupertinotennisclub.org
or mensusta@cupertinotennisclub.org
to explore the possibility of forming additional teams.
- If it
is too late to form and/or join a team for the current season, be sure
to plan in advance for the next season!! You can also request the captains
to allow you to practice with their teams. This is a great way to meet
new people and plan for the next season.
- Review
the basic requirements (listed below) and complete each one.
- If you
still have a question please email womensusta@cupertinotennisclub.org
or mensusta@cupertinotennisclub.org.
The following
are the basic requirements for playing on a Cupertino passholder
team:
- You
must be a current USTA member paid through the end of the league season.
Players with memberships expiring before that time will not be able
to be entered onto a team roster until their membership can be verified
by the USTA's Norcal office. DO NOT MAIL your membership to the USTA,
because it can take several weeks to be processed. Do it on-line,
or by phone by calling 1-800-990-8782. Adult membership is currently
$42 per year. Check the USTA
web site for other pricing information.
- Have
a current NTRP rating. If you do not have a current NTRP rating, you
can self rate based on current information on the USTA
NorCal website.
- Be a
current Cupertino Tennis
Club member.
- Have
a yearly Cupertino Sports
Center (CSC) annual membership paid through the entire season. Call
the CSC for pricing plans at 408.777.3160.
- CTC
versus CSC. What's the difference?
To be a
non-passholder team, all of the above requirements need to be met
except that a CSC membership is not needed and these teams will play out
of other facilities, such as Memorial Park, Las Palmas, etc.
Send us
your suggestions and feedback
if you see any opportunities for improvement.
